U.S. Stock Market Holidays – 2025 Schedule

The U.S. stock markets (NYSE and Nasdaq) observe specific holidays throughout the year when regular trading sessions are closed. Below is the official list of market holidays and early closures for 2025, based on the NYSE and Nasdaq calendars.

Full Market Closures (No Trading)

On the following dates, the U.S. stock markets will be completely closed:
 

  • Good Friday – Friday, April 18
    A religious holiday observed during Holy Week. The markets close in observance of this traditional day.

     

  • Memorial Day – Monday, May 26
    A national holiday honoring U.S. military personnel who have died in service.

     

  • Juneteenth National Independence Day – Thursday, June 19
    A federal holiday commemorating the end of slavery in the United States.

     

  • Independence Day – Friday, July 4
    Celebrating the Declaration of Independence in 1776.

     

  • Labor Day – Monday, September 1
    Honoring the American labor movement and contributions of workers.

     

  • Thanksgiving Day – Thursday, November 27
    A national day of gratitude celebrated with family gatherings.

     

  • Christmas Day – Thursday, December 25
    A major holiday celebrating the birth of Jesus Christ, widely observed across the U.S.

Early Market Closures (1:00 PM EST)

On these select dates, the markets will close early at 1:00 PM Eastern Time:
 

  • Thursday, July 3 – Day Before Independence Day
     

  • Friday, November 28 – Day After Thanksgiving
     

  • Wednesday, December 24 – Christmas Eve
     

Early closures typically occur before major holidays and allow market participants to observe time with family or travel.
